It is such a pleasure to work with such beautiful flowers and last week didn't disappoint. We were surrounded by Avalanche roses in all shades of pastels, my favourite peonies and some late in season ranunculus. Pops of bright mauve with the freesias were inspired by the bridesmaid dresses. A gorgeous wedding day in the depths of Kent - The Old Kent Barn, Canterbury.
Looking forward this week to immersing myself in soft pinks and peach avalanche roses with cream and lilac lisis and pops of colour with Purple Rain freesias. All to create a very special wedding day at The Old Kent Barn, nr Canterbury on Friday. Watch this space for how this fabulous wedding evolves.
Kent florist Marion Slaughter talks clusters, her happiest bride and the departure from vintage style.
What's hot for brides in 2014 - see below link from bridaltweet.com for some gorgeous ideas from dress length, textures and photography! For flowers I was delighted to see a move away from rustic - towards a more elegant design. Brides this year are colourful and adventurous - not afraid to try something different and stand out from the crowd! I am inspired by your colour schemes of fushias and purples, peaches with bright corals and accents of lime, or simply clusters of ivory flowers with pops of bright colours.
We were so excited to be at the last Wedding Show at Bluewater that we couldn't wait to book the next one. The atmosphere was buzzing with catwalk shows and live music all day, champagne flowing and offers everywhere you looked - and I'm not even a bride-to-be! (I did suggest that the only thing missing was a dating agency! Or perhaps a stand offering elible batchelors?)
