Saturday 3rd June – Introduction to Vase Arrangements

From 10.30am – 12.30pm

Venue: Hall Place, Education Room

  • Why do my vase arrangements never the look the way I imagine them.
  • How do I get the stems to stay in place?
  • What sustainable materials can I use for my displays?
  • How do I get my flowers to last longer?

We are going to answer these questions and a whole lot more in this jam-packed 2 hour flower workshop.     There will be a lot of information shared on the day – bring a notebook (!) – I hope that you will take this away with you and get creative with all of your future flower purchases.  Your supermarket bunch will never look the same again.

First of all we we look at shopping for and selecting the right flowers and materials for your container and project. Consider the placement of your vase, background colours and style and the mood you wish to achieve. You will want to create a focal point with an eyecatching stem or 2, then look at other flowers that offer movement balance and texture within your design. I will explain how to condition your flowers to will encourage them to last for longer, plus a few tips to revive any stems that may have wilted early.

The Flower Workshop will include a demonstration of everyone’s favourite spiralled stem bouquet and the traditional method of using floral foam.  We will discuss and explore the many every day tools you have at your disposal for creating your arrangements using more eco-friendly methods now preferred by florists.  You will then select one of these methods to create your own design using a selection of gorgeous fresh seasonal flowers available to you on the day.  I guarantee a whole range of flowers and foliage, unlike those seen in the supermarkets!  Prepare to be inspired!

You are welcome to bring a favourite vase or container from home or use one of mine to take away with you.
